Maroochy River Catchment Area | Wednesday 11 November 9:30 UTC+10
The purpose of the Maroochy River Source Water Protection Program is to address and manage threats posed to water quality in the Maroochy River Catchment area, one of the five catchments within the Sunshine Coast region of South East Queensland Australia. The program involves a collaborative partnership between Seqwater, the peak government water body of South East Queensland, ECOllaboration, a community based for purpose environmental organisation, and local landholders. The virtual site tour focuses on Poona Dam, a tributary of the Maroochy River Catchment, highlighting 18 months of catchment hazards management, specifically pathogen, nutrient and sediment sources entering Poona Dam. This is achieved through riparian condition improvement, erosion and sediment control, and implementing sustainable agricultural practices.
